Bad Ice Cream is Nitrome's classic arcade game where you play as an ice cream character with a mission — collect all the fruit on the map before the enemies flatten you. Sounds manageable. Level 5 will correct that.
The ice mechanic is what makes it interesting. You can blast ice blocks to build walls that block enemies, open shortcuts to fruit on the far side of the map, or completely close off a threat before it reaches you. Using it well — knowing when to build and when to break — separates clean runs from frantic scrambles.
Forty levels across different themed worlds means the puzzles keep shifting. New enemies with different movement patterns force new approaches. Some chase you directly. Others patrol fixed paths. A few can break through ice, which changes everything about how you use the mechanic.
The multiplayer is where Bad Ice Cream earns its reputation. Up to four players share one keyboard. Friends accidentally wall each other off from fruit they needed. Someone breaks a barrier you were using. Everyone has a different idea of the right path and none of them agree. It's loud and competitive in a way most free games never achieve.
Starting strategy: when you enter a level, don't move immediately. Take one second to identify where all enemies start and which direction they're heading. Planning your first three moves before starting saves more lives than reacting on the fly. In later levels, the first few seconds of movement often determine whether you survive at all.
